but God.

God blew my mind!  I vividly recall the morning of June 28th, a day that started with an immense surge of energy and a strong desire to make the most of it. After a refreshing shower, I prayed, and read a chapter from Bob Goff’s Undistracted, I also shared inspiring thoughts on twitter and even updated my blog. Had a satisfying meal of white rice, stew, and chicken. Life felt good, and I held onto my fragile thread of faith with contentment. However, the course of the day took an unexpected turn when a friend called with unsettling news that shattered the thread of faith I had been holding onto. I could almost physically sense my chest splitting open and my faith crumbling away. At that juncture, any semblance of hope or faith felt burdensome, beyond my capacity to bear. The pain of faith weighed heavily, and despite my heart's whispered encouragement to persevere, my inner strength was fractured. I knelt down and had an honest conversation with God. I expressed my inability to con...

Reflection

Everyone's life follows a unique path filled with diverse experiences. If we constantly compare ourselves to others, we'll only end up getting distracted and denying ourselves the joy and excitement that our own journey can bring. Personally, my life has been like a rollercoaster ride. Some days, I feel highly motivated, while on other days, I feel discouraged and dejected. The truth is, if we measure our lives based on societal standards, we'll miss out on what truly matters. Each person is different, and if we take the time to introspect, we might discover that we desire something different, something subtle or unconventional. However, for some reason, we often find ourselves following the same path because it's culturally accepted. Today, I find solace in being comfortable in my own skin and viewing my experiences as sources of joy. There's one particular thing that used to frustrate me, an unavoidable part of my daily routine, and I always dreaded it. But today,...

Growth

"God, I am afraid, but I know I shouldn’t live by sight but by faith. I don’t know how I am meant to sustain this faith for so long because I am genuinely running out of it. Just like the widow with a son told Elijah - she had just her last meal before she would probably starve with her son - but she was willing to share (1 Kings 17:7-16). In the same way, this little ounce of hope left in me, I lay it before the throne of grace because at this point, it is only by your grace that I am still sane. I watched a sermon that talked about acknowledging the fear but declining to have a "facetime" with it. Basically, not lying to yourself that the fear isn't there but refusing to entertain it. The Bible says - casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:3-5). So basically the Bible acknowledges that these thoughts (strongholds) will come, but w...

Relax

This article was originally written in mid-May 2022, but it wasn't posted because I've been a little off-kilter.     For me, the journey has been like riding a roller coaster. Fair enough, this year has been great, and I still have my hopes set on more fantastic things. Recently, I've been a little more deliberate about the bible verses I study; I simply google what I feel like studying and, most of the time, I receive fantastic articles that I use to "hold body" for that day. The day before yesterday, it was the Joseph narrative; I already knew how it turned out, but I still needed some inspiration to get through the day. Reading those site pages made me feel as though I were being mirrored — you know, that sense of hoping your life would go in a certain path, just like Joseph felt after having that dream of ruling over his brothers. According to what I've read, Joseph appears to be in a good place; after all, being the beloved child of a successful m...

Sincerity

Some days it's a lot harder to believe that God genuinely loves you. I know it's hard to admit but when your insecurities creep in, it messes with your head, making the daily miracles in your life seem mundane. You then convince yourself that if God had answered your big prayers, these seemingly little ones would have been non-existent. I slept feeling great about myself but I woke up feeling so inadequate. I tried reading scriptures on God’s love for me but I kept seeing God’s love for “us”, “the world”, it was not personalized, I needed something to hold on to. Although I am aware that “us” referred to in the Bible technically means me but I was not having it. My mind was clouded with these thoughts “I just do not care about the world right now; I am not interested in Your love for the world but your love for me! I need You to love me and not the world. Can’t you see I need you?! Focus on me! - I am falling apart”. I have always felt scared admitting in my prayers t...

Breathe Him

“His strength is made perfect in our weakness;  2 Corin 12:9” This is one phrase I always felt I understood not until lately, I’ve literally been living it and it opened my eyes to a whole new perspective of its meaning. Going through my daily life, I usually get faced with seemly overwhelming situations where my strength fails me, and most times the stress from these activities or just an event might ruin the whole day. But lately, at any glimpse of an overwhelming situation or decision, I literally run to God and just throw myself at His Feet; acknowledging I need His help and the honest truth is not once haven’t He come through. It just feels like everything just instantly aligns on its own miraculously. I’m grateful that I’m getting accustomed to running to Him first before making any decision or just when I feel so overwhelmed. I feel more connected like my steps are ordered; you know that subtle affirmation that no matter what it looks like outwardly, something spectacular is...

Pace of Grace

Walking in the pace of grace; this will be a little mash-up from some of the teachings I’ve been privileged to listen to. Just the other day I watched two amazing poets speak with so much grace, I stood there staring at my phone in awe of how a person could be this poised. I started having this lingering inside of me on how being a spoken word artist might be an amazing career for me. There’re so many other people in their respective fields that excel so greatly in it that makes you just look up to them or desire to be more like them. This struck a chord in me; that what matters is doing what God has called you to do, and that’s the only thing you can do eloquently without much strife or struggle. The truth is we all want to do what God has called us to do but the only problem is that most times it seems blurry; we don’t even know what He has called us to do and this is where the title of this post came from ( I’m getting pretty good with this title thing ). God equips us for the pur...
