FAITH

  • Let’s talk about faith.

  • I used to believe faith is a feeling (it can be sometimes though), but whenever I don’t feel it, when it’s harder to pray because it feels like God has forgotten me and I don’t feel His presence anymore; I feel pretty much demoralized. Did you notice something in that statement? The word “feel-ing” was reoccurring. The devil creeps into our feelings and manipulates them. As much as all feelings are valid, but we shouldn't lose sight of the fact that they can still be flawed. I’ve read Hebrews 11 several times and it didn’t hit until recently. In verse 11, it says Sarah “considered” Him faithful who had made the promise. She did not care about how she felt regarding the Lord telling her she’ll be a mother after menopause but she held on to that attribute of God; a FAITHFUL God. If you move to verse 19; it says Abraham “reasoned” that God could even raise the dead, the bible never said he felt, because if he was relying on his feelings. Hmmm, if he was relying on how he felt, I doubt he would want to give up his son Isaac.

  • So the question just as Jesus asked His disciples in (Matthew 16:13-20); “who do people say the Son of Man is?” They gave different answers then Jesus moved on to ask them, but “Who do you say I am?” Peter said you are the Messiah, the Son of the living God, and Jesus commended him and blessed him. In the same manner, ask yourself who is God to me? Most times, we stick to the representation of God other people give to us, living in their shadows; probably our pastors or spiritual mothers/fathers (depending on the title you give to them). Jesus is asking you today to know Him for yourself. Yes, your pastor/priest said God is this or that but who is Christ to you??? You will not be able to activate that in-most confidence in God when trials hit you because you do not know God for yourself.

  •

  • You find yourself reclining, being in a state of turmoil because you’re living in the shadow of another person's knowledge of God. Just as Sarah held on to the fact that God is Faithful, Abraham held on to the knowledge that God can do anything even raise the dead and Peter knew Jesus as the Messiah and Son of the living God. Who is God to you??? Spend some time getting to know God yourself. You mustn’t have the answer immediately. Take all the time you need, there’s no rush but when you finally get your answer, stick to that persona of God, hold on to Him and watch God transform your life around. When you do not feel like it, you reason it out (God is faithful, God is merciful, God is good, God isn’t a man that He would lie, God is Kind, God is the creator of the universe) you can stick to a whole verse or chapter in the bible if you wish. Jeremiah 29:11 is one of my favourites; for I know the plans I have for you (insert your name) says the Lord, ‘plans to prosper me and not to harm me, plans to give me a hope and a future. There are so many, and it doesn’t matter if it’s the conventional ones but what matters is that it speaks to you personally.

  •

  • Most importantly, you need to renew your mind daily, because we tend to forget (it’s only natural), the bible says in Romans 12:2; Do not conform to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – His good, pleasing and perfect will. This means you need to study His words daily (It can be a verse, a phrase) doesn’t matter. This morning I came across Proverbs 3:5-6, and it struck a chord in my heart and I felt that verse like never before (Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight). My point is we all experience God differently, no way is superior to the other. As much as we’re a body of Christ and we ought to edify each other, we also need to walk the walk for ourselves to truly experience/taste that love, joy, fulfillment, and calmness that only God can give and it all starts with being open to it. Ask for anything in my name (Jesus), I will do it (John 14:14).

  •

  • I can assure you that when you do, the outburst of confidence (Godfidence) in you will even shock you and it will radiate in all aspects of your life. You’ll glow like never before (that’s even a skincare routine). And you’d be surprised at how things start aligning for you real fast. I see the love of God in my life daily.

  •

  • What matters is that you’re enjoying every single moment of your life. Every experience counts, it’s all an adventure; you embrace it completely, enjoy the thrill (the rollercoaster; ups and downs). No matter the season of your life, happiness is just the default, you’re hopeful; you’re filled with love, joy, contentment, big dreams, strength, and confidence, ultimately radiating God’s love. So whether things seem to be working out or not, it’s immaterial because you know for certain it will.

  •

  • According to Joyce Meyer (Faith always has to operate in the now. You can’t have faith yesterday. Today, you can have faith that God will take care of yesterday. You can’t have faith tomorrow, right now. But you can believe, right now, that God will take care of tomorrow).

  • So, live in the present.

  4. "...and Sarah considered; Abraham reasoned..." It made me reflect again on who we see God to be and how often we hold true to that personality. It takes a resolute faith to hold unto to God despite the odds, and this faith should be independent of whatever happens. Thanks Kosie for this inspiring piece.

PS: you almost sounded like a "mama" ๐Ÿ˜‚ ๐Ÿ˜‚
