Calm
In a panic, the disciples roused Jesus and shouted, "Master!, don't you care that we're drowning? (Mark 4:38)
The storm didn't seem to bother Jesus at all. He had already declared what He planned would happen on this trip - He'd said, "let's go to the other side and that's what He meant. He foresaw the outcome, and He didn't waver because of the circumstances. He didn't panic; the storm was meaningless to Him. Spend more of your time thinking about His words and your goals and less time worrying about the storm(s) in your life.
When the disciples woke Jesus, He simply got up, rebuked the wind, and said to the waves, "Quiet! Be still!" Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. He said to his disciples, "Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith? (Vs 39-40)
Hence, Jesus chided them for moving off the original plan just because of circumstances, because of the raging storm. They stopped focusing on what Jesus had said and given their attention to the trouble that was afoot.
We easily let circumstances of life make us questions our purpose/the promises of God.
The story should give you confidence that Jesus has a plan for your life. Sometimes storms come along, don't let them scare you or detour you. Don't be like the disciples, who thought the storm stopped the original plan or the will of God which is - (Jeremiah 29:11; For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future).
Someone once made me realize that we are all Spirits (we have a body, a soul, and spirit) your spirit isn't limited by anything other than yourself (mind), it can do virtually anything, but you need to align your body with it because it can't move unless you agree to move. We need to start believing because the Bible says (Jesus Himself said) that we are gods (John 10:34-36). We have the power and we need to start professing the promises of God in our lives.
Once you have the vision, it is achievable, (Genesis 13:14-15; The LORD said to Abram after Lot had parted from him, "Lift your eyes from where you are and look north and south, east and west. All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring forever).
You might ask;
If I can imagine it, why isn't this going as planned? Why isn't this working out for me?
The answer is simple;
When you plant a tree, does it grow overnight? If a tree grows overnight won't you be scared? The same way it is with each of us! Once you're alive God has a vision with your name on it (nobody is left out).
You might ask how do I know I am right on track ( if I am on the right path)?
Once you're able to overcome challenges that present themselves, smoothly (wherever God leads, He protects and provides).
If something is trying to "take your head" or causes you unbearable pain and misery (and you keep trying to manipulate things), it isn't yours.
There should be Synchronism and alignment if it's from God (God doesn't confuse).
You also might say; starting something new comes with its challenges, so Kosi you're trying to tell me to give up???
Nope! Not at all, stepping out of your comfort zone and trying out something new is a bit scary and challenging but God always makes a way and helpers will come and things will align, strength will come from above to lead you through (if it's meant for you) it might not necessarily be big steps(like you might have envisaged) but there would be a flow (little drops of water make a mighty ocean)
1 Corinthians 2:9
However, as it is written: "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him"
God won't give you what isn't yours and if you try to force or manipulate it, you will be miserable in the long run (Ask Sarah; Genesis 16:4)
We have to realize that God isn't a man that He should lie (Numbers 23:19) and no manipulation can make Him skip the process because;
James 1:3- You know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
Roman 5:3-5
We also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance produces character, and character produces hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us.
Isaiah 49:23
Then you will know that I am the LORD; those who hope in me will not be disappointed."
Romans 10:11
As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in Him will never be put to shame."
Ecclesiastics 3:11
He has made everything beautiful in its time.
So cast your burden/anxiety to the Lord because He truly cares for you (1 Peter 5:7) because Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? (Matthew 6:27)
If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. (James 1:5-6)
God demonstrated His love for us in this; While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)
In Colossians 2:6, Jesus was identified as Jesus, Christ, and Lord.
Christ means Anointed One, the Messiah.
Jesus means Savior and
Lord means Master, Leader, Director, Teacher.
We tend to acknowledge Jesus as the Son of God, our Messiah but do we recognize His Lordship over our lives???
Do we ask for His opinion or direction before we embark on anything or do we just remember Him whenever we're in trouble???
If He's at the driver's seat in our lives, why then do we always get all worked up??? or anxious? Or confused???
Let's learn to simplify our lives and walk and live in the Love that Jesus gave us, and stop trying so hard to figure out everything on our own.
The centurion in (Matthew 8:5-13) recognized the Lordship of Jesus when he said "Only say a word and my servant will be healed" such faith!.
Do not be afraid or terrified because of them. For the Lord, your God goes with you. He will never leave you nor forsake you (Deu 31:6)
Keep your lives free from the love of money(don't be a slave to greed) and be content with whatever you have, because God has said, never will I leave you, never will I forsake you (Hebrews 13:5)
Jesus is not a God to be consulted only in need, Jesus is a friend to commune with on all matters of life. It goes beyond just praying, but to also know God's stand on the said issues.
Never lose sight of who you're (Psalm 1:3)
The end.
On a side note, I recommend this animated movie ( watch it with your kids, love ones, etc) it changed my perception of life.
"Bilal: A New Breed Of Hero"
(thank me later *winks*)
Fear will give us a reason not to try,
Hope will give us a reason not to listen.
The measure of the good God's doing in our lives isn't how we're feeling about it.
Go have fun today,
God delights in seeing His Children play.

DeleteSuch an insightful write up. God Bless you.
ReplyDeleteThank you and God bless you too.
DeleteYou write like one who came with the wisdom of the ancient - one who has drank from the stream of wisdom. The narrative shows and equal blend of religiosity and intellectualism. By this I mean that you are able to remove the bible verses from their biblical context an situate within practical life situation. This is most definitely an interesting read for for me.
ReplyDeletePlease keep it up
