Continuation of my previous post on Genesis

The past few days have been rather hectic, so I wasn’t able to post.

Soo here we go again...

Continuation of the post “Cliché documentary on the book of Genesis and mind-boggling questions...
When I was younger my teachers made me believe that God destroyed the tower of Babel because the people were trying to be greater than Him, but the Bible contradicts it.
According to Genesis 11:4-8; “paraphrased” Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heaves, so that we may make a name for ourselves and not be scattered over the face of the whole earth. But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower that men were building. The Lord said, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.” So the Lord scattered them from there over the earth, and they stopped building the city.

SO MY QUESTION IS... GOD ALWAYS SPOKE ABOUT LOVE, PEACE AND UNITY, WASN’T IT A GOOD THING THEN??? WHY THEN SCATTER THE PEOPLE BECAUSE THEY WERE UNITED???

Well until I understand better, what I learnt is the power of unity. Verse 6 says The Lord said, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them.”

Let’s move forward...

Shem the first son of Noah is the ancestor of Abram, the son of Terah who was 70years when he became the father of Abram, Nahor and Haran.
Genesis 11:26
Haran was the father of Lot.

Genesis 11:31 – Terah took his son Abram, his grandson Lot; son of Haran and his daughter-in-law Sarai, the wife of his son Abram, and together they set out from Ur of the Chaldeans to go to Canaan. But when they came to Haran, they settled there. Terah lived 205 years, and he died in Haran

God initially called Terah (Abram’s dad) to go to the promise land (Canaan), on his way there, he got to Haran (the place wasn’t bad) so he decided to settle because he was too myopic to see all the great things God had in store for him. So he decided to “play safe”. If you allow God to direct your steps without holding back (total submission), you might not really understand, you will probably be in a state of constant denial or confusion but do not undermine or limit your potentials!!! Well, God later called his son Abram and he listen and God made a great and mighty nation out of him. So if you feel you’re indispensable. Think again!!!

Someone might ask (I’m the one asking) “how do you know God has great plan for you?”  Well, the bible says in Jeremiah 1:5; “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart. Isaiah 43:2; “When you go through deep waters, I will be with you”.

When Abram defeated King Kedorlaomer and rescued his nephew Lot and all the possessions. The king of Sodom said to Abram, “Give back my people who were captured. But you may keep for yourself all the goods you have recovered. Abram replied “I solemnly swear to the Lord, God most high, Creator of heaven and earth that I will not take so much as a single thread or sandal thong from what belongs to you. Otherwise you might say, “I am the one who made Abram rich”. I will accept only what my young warriors have already eaten, and I request that you give a fair share of the goods to my allies (Aner, Eshcol and Mamre) the clans that helped Abram in defeating Kedorlaomer.
Genesis 14:21-24

Isn’t it amazing how Abram have so much faith in God and didn’t want anyone taking the glory that belongs to God.
Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, please shower me with unimaginable blessings that will stun everyone including myself and no man will contend or argue that it’s from You; Amen. (I sound like you favourite pastors *winks*)

And Abram believed the Lord, and the Lord counted him as righteous because of his faith. Genesis15:6.

Let’s stop trying to outplay God; it doesn’t end well...
Being upset that God isn’t hurrying will not make Him hurry...
Desperate people do desperate things, and desperate people do stupid things...
Sarai urged Abram to sleep with her maidservant Hagar, so she can build a family through her; well, who’ll reject free food, Abram agreed to this request. When Hagar knew she was pregnant, *drum rolls* she began to despise her mistress (Madam Sarai, I’m pregnant and you’re not, let’s see who Abram will love) well Sarai wasn’t taking it, she blamed Abram (as supposed), Abram reassures her “Your servant is in your hands, “Abram said. “Do with her whatever you think is best.” Then Sarai mistreated Hagar; so she fled from her (see this aunty oo, she felt she can snatch my hubby because of common pregnancy; think again *rolls eyes and flips hair*) Well the angel of the Lord found Hagar, instructed her to go back to her mistress and submit to her, and the Lord will so increase her descendants that they will be too numerous to count, and she will have a son, whom she shall name Ishmael (who is believed to be the ancestor of Arab nation. The Muslims also believe he is the forefather of Mohammad). Genesis 16.

Genesis 18:14; Is anything too hard for the Lord?

Genesis 18:16-33; God exhibited how patient He is with us, when Abraham kept asking questions that any human being will provoke if asked those silly questions but God kept answering gently.

Genesis 19: God was merciful and spared the life of Lot and his family due to his kindness towards the angels when the men of Sodom tried to rape them (angels). Although Lots wife was later turned to a pillar of salt due to her disobedience (she looked back at the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah).

Let’s move forward to Lots two daughters raping him, starting from the older to the younger daughter after they got their father (Lot) drunk, the older reasoned with the younger daughter; Genesis 19:31 “Our father is old, and there is no man around here to lie with us, let’s get our father to drink wine then lie with him and preserve our family line through our father” so the older went in first, the next day, the younger sister went in without their father Lot being aware. The oldest daughter named her son Moab; he is the father of the Moabites of today and the younger named her son Ben-Ammi; he is the father of the Ammonites of today.

Genesis is quite long. Let’s stop here today so it won’t get boring
