God's silence

So I just had to share this from the book "Everybody Always" by the amazing "Bob Goff" The man is sooooooo smart. OMG ! This made me feel really good because sometimes God seems silent and it makes me question His love for me. I know I shouldn't but some days are better than others. I don't want to be selfish, so here you go ; I’ve also come to see the purpose and beauty in God’s silence. It’s like He’s telling me He knows my heart’s desires and what I’m thinking. He knows what He’s taught me. He’s seen when I’ve succeeded and when I’ve failed. From His point of view, that all rolls up into an unspoken whisper from Him I can almost hear saying, “You’ve got this.” His biggest priority isn’t removing failure as an option but reminding me He loves me as I try. There’s a verse in the Bible that says, “Do not despise these small beginnings.” I love that. It’s a reminder to me Go...

Painless Path

Think about a tree.    First, when a tree is planted before any fruit comes on the branches; a long time has to be taken for that tree to get deep roots in the ground. Otherwise, when the fruit does come on the branches it will cause the whole thing to topple over and fall. If God gives any person more than they are spiritually ready to handle, He is not helping them, He’s hurting them. So don’t just pray for God to give you everything you want, rather pray He gives you what you can handle because stuff can take us away from God if we’re not ready. A mushroom grows over night but a large oak tree takes time. There’s no scripture in the bible that compares us to a mushroom. Jeremiah 17:8 ; For he will be nourished like a tree planted by the waters, that spreads out its roots by the river; and will not fear the heat when it comes; but its leaves will be green and moist, and it will not be anxious and concerned in a year of drought nor stop bearin...

Blind Spots

Below is Chapter 11 of this really amazing book "Everybody Always" by " Bob Goff" It's such an inspiring read. I have a friend named Lex. He has the same problem in both of his eyes that I have in one of mine. After ten failed operations, he lost his eyesight completely when he was eight years old. In high school Lex began to compete in track-and-field events. By the time he got to college, he figured out he could run like the wind. So he went out for the track team. My first thought was, How can a blind guy run track? Then I found out Lex has a friend. His friend runs in front of Lex and calls his name. Lex just runs toward a voice he knows he can trust. Everyone who runs track-and-field picks an event. Lex picked the long jump. This still makes my head spin. If you’re not familiar with this event, you run as fast as you can down a three-foot-wide track from a position more than one hundred feet away. With your last step, you launch into the air as high...

Ripple Effect

My initial intent was for this post to be brief but I couldn’t stop typing. Today’s sermon in church was quite insightful, so I felt I should explore the topic. The priest talked about how our actions whether good or bad can affect a whole lot of people. That God created us for 3 reasons; to know Him, to love Him and to serve Him. He also mentioned that no one has seen God so we’re meant to be the light of the world. Our actions should make unbelievers believe and not handing them a whole bunch of instructions on what not to do. So he went further to give this frictional example; A man was on his balcony sipping a really hot coffee before he slipped and the cup fell on top of the man that was painting the building, due to the hotness of the coffee, he couldn’t control himself so the ladder he was on fell on a moving vehicle and the paint splashed on the car’s screen, due to the inability of the driver to see clearly because of the spilt paint on the sc...

"LOVE"

Before we start I want to point this out: I am not so good with captions; so don’t be shocked that my caption has nothing to do with the writeup below. 1 Corinthians 9:19-23 Though I am free and belong to no man, I make myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible. To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I become like one under the law (though myself am not under the law), So as to win those under the law. To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God’s law but am under Christ’s law), so as to win those not having the law. To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some. I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessing... So Paul was basically saying that he accepts people just the way they are. You cannot change people or correct their wrongs by writing a list of what t...

Continuation of my previous post on Genesis

The past few days have been rather hectic, so I wasn’t able to post. Soo here we go again... Continuation of the post “Cliché documentary on the book of Genesis and mind-boggling questions ... When I was younger my teachers made me believe that God destroyed the tower of Babel because the people were trying to be greater than Him, but the Bible contradicts it. According to Genesis 11:4-8; “paraphrased” Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heaves, so that we may make a name for ourselves and not be scattered over the face of the whole earth. But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower that men were building. The Lord said, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.” So the Lord scattered them from there...
