Uncoordinated insight on the book of Galatians
I dug out this piece from my journal, it was written on the 21st of June, 2018; 8:53pm lol
It's just a little insight on the book of Galatians.
Here we go :
God has no favorite: Paul in (Galatians 2:6-8) said that the reputation of the leaders of the church made no difference to him because God has no favorites. God gives us different duties but it's from God and no one duty is better/preferable to Him.
The fear of criticism by mere humans leads to hypocrisy: (Galatians 2:12-13),
Even Peter who is the pillar in the church at some point messed up; don't be so hard on yourself when you make mistakes (that doesn't mean you should let yourself loose) be intentional but perfection is a myth. Don't kill yourself because you're trying to attain perfection.
This verse also showed me that God can call anybody; that person you wrote off might just do a better job than those trained for it or the so called experts.
Here Peter due to fear of criticism from the Jews stopped eating with the Gentiles because they were uncircumcised. This act of hypocrisy portrayed by Peter also misled the Jewish believers and even Barnabas was led astray (you never know who's watching and imitating you) it was Paul ( the supposed persecutor of Christians) that confronted Peter about his actions (Galatians 2:11-13 )
Galatians 2:20
" It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God; who loved me and gave Himself to me.
This verse really means allot to me because Paul didn't over night become this power believer, it was like after 20years after his conversion. It shows me that having a personal and intimate relationship with God is a life long journey. It's not something you get and then it's stuck. It's something you grow from stage to stage by the grace of God. First you're a baby Christian, then you keep graduating from Glory to glory, from strength to strength until you're a full grown unquenchable believer. So don't beat yourself up if you're not where you want to be yet. Keep studying the word, praying and asking God for Grace (trials will definitely come) we're on a life long journey baby so you better put on your seatbelt. There's hope for us.
A person is made right with God by faith in Jesus Christ (Galatians 2:16-17) not by obeying the law. No man will ever be right with God by obeying the law.
But suppose we seek to be made right with God through faith in Christ and then we're found guilty because we have abandoned the law (laws of Moses in Exodus) would that mean Christ has led us into sin? Absolutely Not!!!
I do not treat the Grace of God as meaningless, for if keeping the law could make us right with God, then there was no need for Christ to die (Galatians 2:21)
It is impossible to change yourself or someone else without the grace of God (think of the numerous bad habits and addictions you've got that you've tried severally to change but end up being worse than you were before) anytime you try to change yourself or someone else without God's grace (begging God to help you) you'll end up frustrated because no man can change himself. "OMG I'm quitting smoking 😂 madam if you smoked just a stick before, once you try on your own you'll find yourself smoking 2 tomorrow".
Don't get me wrong, making an effort is totally amazing but we need to include the God factor. Jesus said apart from me you can do nothing (John 15:5); He meant it.
Galatians 3:3-4
Paul was addressing the people of Galatians; why are you trying to become perfect by your own human efforts? Have you experienced so much (Holy Spirit through believing in Jesus Christ) for nothing? Surely it was not in vain; was it?
We receive the blessings of God freely, not because of our righteousness, but because of our faith in Jesus Christ
So those who have faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.
All who rely on observing the law are under a curse, for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law."
Clearly no one is justified before God by the law, because, "The righteous will live by faith."
The law is not based on faith.
Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree." Galatians 3:5 - 13 (NIV)
So basically the major difference between a believer and an unbeliever is "Acceptance". Just believing that Jesus died for you and He wants everything good for you.
The Bible says in Hebrew 11:6 that without faith it is impossible to please God, "because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him"
Let's not make faith look too voluminous,
Let's try and make it simple, the truth is when we're in our trying times, it's quite hard to keep believing, the Bible says in Hebrews 12:11 No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.
Let's not see faith as something we have and it stays, let's try and trust God one minute at a time, step by step; if you find yourself worrying, pray against it immediately and just take it one bit at a time. "to climb steep hills require slow pace at first"
The law (laws given to Moses in exodus) was given alongside the promise to show people their sins; which will last only until the coming of Christ.
Is there a conflict between God's law and God's promises??? Absolutely Not!
If the law could give us new life; if we could be made right with God by obeying it. There won't be need for Christ to die. Because the scripture declares that we're all prisoners of sin, so we receive God's promise of freedom only by believing in Jesus Christ.
And now that we belong to Christ, we're the true children of Abraham. We're his heir, and God's promise to Abraham belongs to us (Galatians 3:21-29)
