Cliché documentary on the book of Genesis and mind-boggling questions
You probably think you know everything that happened in the book of genesis, well that is possible but then I have really mind-boggling questions. So be patient as you go through what you will probably call stale gist.
And yea, you should consider reading everything; this is the second time I am typing this because the initial one mistakenly wiped off; so yea... you are basically compensating me for my efforts.
Here we gooo....
We are created in God’s very own image (so if you’re wondering how God looks, stare at the mirror) and He made us in charge of everything. Genesis 1:26
Man was made from dust and the breath of God. God felt man shouldn’t be alone so He created a helper gotten from man’s ribs and man named this helper “woman”(named by man because she was taken from him).
So after serpent lured Eve to eat the forbidden fruit and Adam gave in. God cursed the three of them: Genesis 3:8-19
Serpent: You will crawl on your belly, grovelling in the dust as long as you live. And I will cause enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring. He will crush your head and you will strike his heels.
Woman: I will sharpen the pain of your pregnancy and in pain you will give birth. “And you will desire to control your husband, but he will rule over you". Woowza!!! I didn’t see that coming...
Man: The ground is cursed because of you. All your life you will struggle to scratch a living from it. It will grow thorns and thistles for you, though you will eat of its grains, by the sweat of your brow will you have food to eat until you return to the ground from which you were made. For you were made from dust, and to dust you will return.
God banished Adam and Eve from the garden of Eden because they will reach out to take the fruit from the tree of life and eat it which will make them live forever.
In the course of time Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil as an offering to the Lord. But his younger brother Abel brought fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock. The Lord looked with favour on Abel and his offering, but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favour. So Cain was very angry, and his face was downcast. Then the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door, it desires to have you, but you must master it. Now Cain said to his brother Abel, Let’s go out to the field. “And while they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him. Then God cursed Cain (read the entire chapter if you want to know exactly what God said) Genesis 4:1-11
On a side note though, I have always been wondering why God rejected Cain’s offering not until I read Hebrews 11:4 “By faith Abel offered God a better sacrifice than Cain did. By faith he was commended as a righteous man, when God spoke well of his offerings. And by faith He still speaks, even though he is dead”. You'll want to read the whole chapter; one of my favourites.
Cain means: With the help of the Lord I have brought forth a man
QUESTION 1:
Genesis 4:17: How did Cain’s wife come to be??? If Adam and Eve gave birth to Cain and Abel, who then gave birth to Cain’s wife!!!
Adam and Eve had their third son Seth, when Adam was 130 years. After the birth of Seth who looked like Adam, Adam lived another 800 years, and he had other sons and daughters. Adam lived for 930 years, and he died. Genesis 5:5
Seth means God has granted me another child in place of Abel, since Cain killed him.
There are so many accounts on the descendants of Adam but I won’t go into details now, you can read them; Genesis 4&5. I will simply pick few.
Enoch a descendant of Seth had close fellowship with God for 300 years at 65 years old. Then one day he disappeared because God took him at the age of 365 years into heaven (He literally went into heaven without dying; his living body was taken into heaven. Woow! I cannot even imagine the kind of relationship you will have with God for Him to honour you that way! woow)
He was also the father of Methusalah, who died at the age of 969 years (the oldest man in the bible) Methusalah birthed Lamech who is the father of Noah. All these accounts were detailed in Genesis 5.
Meaning of the name Noah: May he bring us relief from our work and painful labour of farming this ground that the Lord has cursed.
Noah became the father of Shem, Ham and Japheth.
Genesis 6:3: Then the Lord said “My Spirit will not put up with humans for such a long time, for they are only mortal flesh. In the future, their life span will be no more than 120 years.
QUESTIONS:
Genesis 6:2 – the Sons of God (angels) saw the beautiful women and took any they wanted as their wives. Verse 4: In those days, and for some time after giants Nephilim lived on the earth, for whenever the sons of God has intercourse with women, they gave birth to children who became the heroes and famous warriors for ancient times.
So if these sons of God are angels, how is it they live on earth??? So after much investigation, I have concluded that they are fallen angels.
And there are speculations (me of course) that these Nephilim were the ones that helped Noah build his ark because the ark was huge and basically only giants can carry log of woods that size (or maybe I am wrong, I stand to be corrected); Genesis 6:15- This is how you are to build it: The ark is to be 450 feet long, 75 feet wide and 45 feet high.
Noah was the only blameless person living on earth at the time, He had 3 sons.
Noah, his wife, 3 sons and their wives, animals in pairs (male and female) were the survivals of the flood. The flood water covered the earth for 150 days. Genesis 7:24
Noah was 600 years when he built the boat; He is now 601 years, 10 and a half months after the flood began on the first day of New Year, he stayed in the boat for 12 months. Genesis 8:13.
Noah was instructed to eat everything except strangled/dead meat (that has life blood in it)
The rainbow is a sign of God’s covenant to Noah and all living creature that flood will never again destroy the earth. Genesis 9:13-15. When God sees the rainbow, He remembers His eternal covenant with mankind.
Noah cursed Canaan; Ham son for the sins of Ham (He saw Noah naked after he got drunk and went to call his brothers) Genesis 9:20-24
Canaan is to be a servant to Shem and Japheth. Noah lived for 950 years
Nimrod is the greatest hunter in the world, literally the first heroic warrior on earth He is from the lineage of Cush, who was the son of Ham. ( I might name one of my sons Nimrod)
All the nations of the earth descended from the clan of Noah after the great flood. Genesis 10:32.
TO BE CONTINUED...
Just a little addition to this opinion- God banished Adam and Eve from the garden of Eden because they will reach out to take the fruit from the tree of life and eat it which will make them live forever.
ReplyDeleteIt is said that they were banished from the garden mainly due to the fact that they had disobeyed ( sinned against) God and if they had remained in the garden, they would have to live forever as sinners.
Imagine having to live in this sinful world forever!! With all the hardships and sufferings. But God had a better plan to redeem us from this; he sent his son, Jesus Christ to die for us and wash away the original sin, so that we no longer have to remain in this sinful world as immortals, but instead be welcomed into thy heavenly kingdom.
Ok, so I have to pause here, don't wanna turn your comment section into my own mini- blog. Lol 😂
Hmm...
DeleteYou're right!, I didn't think of it that way.
Thanks😊
